In grade 8, instructional time should focus on three critical areas: (1) formulating and reasoning about expressions and equations, including modeling an association in bivariate data with a linera equation, and solving linear equations and systems of linear equations; (2) grasping the concept of a function and using functions to describe quantitative relationships; (3) analyzing two- and three-dimensional space and figures using distance, angle, similarity, and congruence, and understanding and applying the Pythagorean Theorem.
Required Materials and Supplies:
Students need to have:
1. Composition notebook
2. Pen for grading
3. Pencil for work
Assignments are given as practice called Independent Work. The student is expected to do the work to be successful in the class.
It is the student's responsibility to get their missed assignments and to ask questions at the appropriate time as needed.
Method of Evaluation:
Students will be evaluated on what they know and understand. Grades will be based on different types and sizes of assessments (Ticket for Understanding, Quizzes, and Test).
Students need to respect everyone in my class (this includes themselves, the teacher, their peers, and substitute teachers).
