Non-Communicable Disease Communicable Disease Reproduction Abstinence and Contraception Sexually Transmitted Infections
Covers the development and prevention of heart attack, stroke, diabetes, high blood pressure, cancer and other diseases caused by both controllable and uncontrollable risk factors. Covers the transmission and prevention of common communicable diseases caused by viruses, bacteria, protozoa, fungi and other types of pathogens.  Students will also have a basic understanding of the human immune system. Covers the function and care of the male and female reproductive systems as well as the reproductive process from conception to birth.   Focuses on a teen's choice and ability to say "no" to sexual activity.  Students also learn about different types of contraception, their effectiveness of protecting against STD's and pregnancy as well as their side effects. Focuses on the transmission, symptoms, treatment, long term effects and ultimately the prevention of common diseases such as chlamydia, gonorrhea, HPV, HBV, syphilis, pubic lice, herpes, and HIV.
